You might say I’ve been on hiatus for a while. Apparently having my second child has made me busier than I anticipated. But somehow over the last 9 mo I have figured out how to get two kids, dressed, fed, out of the house and be somewhere by 9am. It is no small feat and definitely easier when my husband is home to help. It isn’t something I thought could actually happen before the youngest was at least two.

I haven’t been baking as much this year. It looks as though my youngest can’t handle gluten. And well gluten is the wind in this baker’s sail. It has been a hard adjustment to say the least. Now that it is fall and the weather is starting to cool the baking urge is getting stronger. I can’t deny it! After making a few things this past week I’m realizing how much I enjoy it and have missed it. So, stay tuned.

Janey Dress April 14, 2011

So I figured out what my next project would be. Another dress. They are coming out so stinkin cute I can hardly believe it.

This one is called Janey. I think I’m going to have to make it in a few different color ways. I was very unoriginal in my fabric choices for this one – same as the pattern. But I loved it too much to think outside the box.

Oh and I finally got a picture of my first dress. Flower and all.

I know, I know, not much of a difference, but it covers up an oops. 🙂 I made another flower just the same for her hair.

I did it. I finished making a dress for Cupcake, LATE last night. Here are some pics…

I’m so excited about it, I can’t stand it. It was easier than I thought AND it fits her. Double bonus! I am going to add a flower and make a matching one for Cupcake’s hair… tomorrow. Tonight I made a cake. I will post on that soon.

I already know what I will do differently for the next one. And have already started looking for more fabric and other patterns.

I love to bake. That is no secret. And I love to make cupcakes.

Fun looking cupcakes are even better.

Mixin it up August 9, 2010

I love to bake. It is no surprise to anyone that knows me. I own a KitchenAid stand mixer.

Anyone can own one of these.

But does yours have flames?

Yep, I love my mixer.

Pack a Day July 26, 2010

A Pack of Graham Crackers that is.

Since my recent stint in the hospital, I have a revived need for graham crackers. (Hopsitals stock graham crackers and assorted juices in mass quantities. For me, a highlight to a hospital stay.)

Just a hint of sweet. And a crunch. Dunked in milk or with a glass of cranberry juice. But I’m not picky, straight up will do.

My all time favorite but rarely indulged… SMORES.

I think I need to go camping to have some of these. Or I could make them over my stove. hmmmm

I don’t do windows April 12, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — thehobbyholic @ 9:26 pm

Aside from a curtain, we weren’t really sure what the plans for the window were. Just using the tree fabric at the top didn’t overly appeal to me.

But using a solid just wasn’t working. And then we figured it out…

We used some of the letters that are also in the bumper pads. And of course, I LOVE how it came out!!

A Dressed Dresser April 11, 2010

My friend Joyce gave us a dresser a few months ago for Cupcake’s room. The minute I saw it, I knew I wanted it stained to work with the rest of the furniture in our house.

So this past week my dad and husband got to it…

Before - forgot to get an up close picture

During

After - I LOVE IT!

See that lamp? There is more in its future.
